Position on the subject: The purpose of the criminal justice system in this country is not to solve or prevent crimes, rather, it is a scheme to reap mass profits off of prison construction / maintenance and inmate labor. The prison system causes more problems then it purports to solve, courts and legislation is systematically racist, classist, and otherwise unequal. As a result, all prisons in the U.S. should be abolished completely.
