There are plenty of sites out there for voting up popular stories, and inevitably popular opinions. Many debate sites out there take this approach as well. Argument Clinic, on the other hand, aims to maximize exposure to the amount of points of view out there. We don't want the most popular opinions, we want all of them.
Voting systems have the unfortunate effect of hiding unpopular points of view, and alienating people of those points of view. We aim to make a place where everybody of any point of view will feel comfortable participating.
Rather than measuring success by how many people are convinced by one argument or another, we measure success by both sides converging in their point of view, and by debaters and readers learning to understand each other.
This is not to say that we promise never to implement any sort of voting system to maintain quality control. But if that ever needs to happen, we will tread very, very carefully.
